Field at Paxton

This painting marks a renewed interest for the artist in landscape. Begun in 2001, the painting was completed by the end of 2003. It is intended as a celebration of the harvest and conveys the warmth and brilliance of mid-summer. Although a painting of a specific site in southern Scotland, it could be any arable countryside.

The themes are - celebration, cultivation and rewards of endeavour.

Ce tableau marque le renouvellement de l'intérêt de l'artiste pour le paysage. Commencé en 2001, il a été achevé fin 2003. Il vise à célébrer la récolte et évoque la chaleur et l'éclat de l'été. Quoique représentant un endroit spécifique du Sud de l'Ecosse, il pourrait s'agir de n'importe qu'elle terre cultivée.
